Budget and track your spending this holiday season

Pioneer Services' free online tool helps military families manage their holiday expenses.

The holidays are a time for fun, family, friends, gifts, and cheer. But with the economy still struggling, many are looking for ways to spend less or at least make their dollars go farther this holiday season.

A great way to manage your holiday gift budget is to actually create and track wish lists for your family and friends.  Setting a budget up front, then managing against it as you shop for gifts on Black Friday or up until the night before Christmas may help ensure you don’t end up with a holiday debt hangover.

Check out the unique and free online tool at HolidaySpendingPlanner.org. In addition to determining how much you should spend based on your income, this tool also includes links to helpful websites, articles, podcasts, and blogs on how to spend smart during the holidays.  Use it once, or create an account and keep updating and tracking your holiday gift budget throughout the season.  It’s simple, free, and pretty helpful if you’re used to tracking gift lists on post-it pads and scribble sheets like the rest of us.
