Respect and remembrance: Memorial Day 2013
Honoring those who have made the ultimate sacrifice.
May 22, 2013
As a nation, we have a binding and sacred commitment to those who wear the uniform. Their selfless actions on the fields of battle have been part of what makes our country great, and we respectfully honor all those who have served our nation—from the Revolutionary War, through our decades-long conflict against terrorism.
On this Memorial Day, as you picnic and party, perhaps go to your local parade, and celebrate the start of summer, we ask that you also take a moment to remember the brave men and women who have given their lives to protect the freedoms we hold so dear.
After all, we are the land of the free because of the brave.
We send a heartfelt thank you to all of those who have served, and offer respectful remembrances for those who have made the ultimate sacrifice.
