Martin Luther King, Jr. Day

Celebrating Civil Rights

MLK“I have a dream that one day every valley shall be exalted, and every hill and mountain shall be made low. The rough places will be plain and the crooked places will be made straight…”

The content of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s character helped shape civil rights throughout his life and continues to contour our lives today. This timeline reflects a small portion of his noble moments.

Explore more important points of Dr. King’s life by visiting The King Center online. Visit The National Civil Rights Museum in Memphis, Tenn., and you will have the rare opportunity to tour the balcony of the Lorraine Motel where Dr. King last stood. From that balcony visitors can view the room he stayed in and see the cars that remain untouched in the parking lot.
