A Look At Its History

The notion of troops entering the battlefield via air is not a new concept—even Benjamin Franklin mused on the possibility. It has, however, changed the way wars are fought. And while the United States was the not the first world power to create an airborne corps (Russia was first, and Germany was the first to use airborne troops in combat), it has certainly become the best.

The following infographic takes a look at the history American airborne troops as they celebrate their 76th anniversary.
