“Pioneer Services has been supporting the battalion since it arrived at Fort Bliss in 2008, and continues to support the soldiers. I have had a Pioneer loan, and they helped me when I needed it most.”
Command Sergeant Major, United States Army
El Paso, Texas, has a long and rich history dating all the way back to the late 1600s, when the then-small village became the temporary seat of Spanish power in the New Mexico region. In fact, El Paso was officially part of the New Mexico territory until the Compromise of 1850, when it became part of Texas. That tiny village is now all grown up, and has the 20th most populated city proper in the United States. El Paso also boasts several military installations, including Biggs Army Airfield, William Beaumont Army Medical Center and, of course, Fort Bliss, which is the largest military training facility in the military, covering some 1,700 square miles.
El Paso has warm weather all year round, and a number of historical sites, many of which highlight the area's long history. The city also holds a large number of events and festivals throughout the year, including the Amigo Airshow (consistently ranked as one of the top airshows in the nation), the Great River Raft Race held each year on the second-to-last Saturday in June, and El Paso Balloonfest, which features three days of hot air ballooning, music, and fun.
