Local Marine wins second 'Pit Pass Weekend'

Corporal Don Ledman is the second winner of the Pioneer Services Pit Pass Weekend Sweepstakes. He and a guest will receive tickets, pit passes, travel and hotel accommodations in Daytona, Fla., during the Fourth of July weekend.

Cpl. Ledman received his prize during an award ceremony on Tuesday, May June 22nd at the Pioneer Services office, located at 335 W. Main Street in Havelock, North Carolina. In addition to the tickets and pit passes, Cpl. Ledman will also receive racing merchandise and meet Bobby Hamilton, Jr., driver of the No. 25 Team Marines car.

"I'm a huge racing fan and can't wait to go and see what Daytona is all about," says Ledman. "Getting to hang out in the pits and see the garage area will be a bonus. It will also give me and my wife a chance to get away for a little while and spend some quality time together."

The Pit Pass Weekend Sweepstakes is a way for Pioneer Services Representatives to reward service members for the sacrifices they make defending freedom. "Giving back to the military community is what we're all about," says Pamela Love, manager of the Cherry Point office, "They sacrifice so much, and it's important for them to get a break every now and then. This is just our way of saying 'Thanks!'"

There will be another winner drawn on August 2, 2004 for a race in Fontana, California on September 4 - the winner will receive the same package as the previous two Pit Pass Weekend winners. The first winner was Spc. Billy Whitfield of Ft. Riley, KS, who received a race to the Carquest Auto Parts 300 at Lowe's Motor Speedway in Charlotte, NC on May 29, 2004.
