Pioneer Services’ CEO Tom Holcom was presented with the U.S. Army's "Outstanding Civilian Service Medal" Oct. 5, 2010, during a special celebration of his 25 years with the company. The award was presented to Holcom by retired U.S. Army Lt. Gen. Robert Arter.

To help military families better understand the VA Home Loan program, we created an article and podcast that explain the process, including how to find a good lender. Both are designed to make what can be an overwhelming experience a lot easier.

Laura Stack, chief financial officer of Pioneer Services, was named the "CFO of the Year" by the Kansas City Business Journal. The award is given to a financial professional for outstanding performance in his or her role as a corporate financial steward.

We pride ourselves on giving back to those who serve, including providing our team members with up to 16 hours of paid volunteer time off (VTO) each year. That program was recognized with a "CSR Award for Workplace Innovation" from PR News, receiving first place in a field of finalists that included Pepsi Co., Butterball and Deloitte.

Our collections department was named one of the "Best Places to Work in Collections in 2009." The award is created by insideARM.com (Accounts Receivable Management) and Best Companies Group, and is designed to identify, recognize and honor companies who provide superior workplaces.

Our "Save the Flame Campaign," which raised more than $60,000 to keep the eternal flame at the National WWI Museum from being extinguished, received a 2009 Silver Quill Award. One of the most prestigious awards in business, the Silver Quills focus on the communications aspect of a company's particular campaign or effort.

To help hundreds of local children celebrate upcoming birthdays with a unique gift, we decorated a number of "birthday bags" for Operation Breakthrough, a local nonprofit that provides child care for up to 670 children. Even more impressive is that fact team members did it while on the clock thanks to our paid volunteer time off program.
