KANSAS CITY, Mo.
In recognition of its continued commitment to employees called to active duty, or currently serving in the U.S. military, Pioneer Services, a Division of MidCountry Bank, was recently awarded the "Above and Beyond Award" by the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), a Department of Defense organization founded in 1972 that promotes cooperation and understanding between Reservists and their employers.
"Our company has tremendous respect and admiration for those team members who are called to serve our country," said Joe Freeman, president of Pioneer Services. "As such, we feel it's our responsibility to provide them with the superior benefits and support they need while deployed, and to ensure they know that their families and loved ones are taken care of while activated for military service."
The Above and Beyond Award is given to a very limited number of employers that exceed expectations and requirements for support of those called to military duty. Pioneer Services was recognized for several notable benefits it offers: providing the difference between service member's regular pay and military pay for more than 12 months; continuing heath, dental, and other benefits for members and their families; actively recruiting and hiring Guard/reserve members; and creating and supporting an active support system called Pioneer Partners that provides "random acts of kindness" for families during mobilizations (e.g. providing holiday ornaments, gift baskets, updates, etc.).
The award was presented to Pioneer Services by representatives of ESGR at an employee recognition event held recently at the World War I Museum in Kansas City, Mo. "It's a pleasure to honor the leaders and workers at Pioneer Services who make it their business to serve military folks and their families," said ESGR Representative James Carver.
