American Business Awards recognize Pioneer Services' CSR program with Gold Stevie Award
June 25, 2012
KANSAS CITY, Mo.
Pioneer Services has been giving back to military families and the communities it serves for more than 25 years. During that time, hundreds of families and organizations have been helped thanks to the company's paid volunteer time off (VTO) benefit, sponsorship of events, monetary and in-kind donations, and commitment to financial education.
All of those efforts have once again been recognized, this time with a 2012 American Business Award (known as a "Stevie") for "Corporate Social Responsibility Program of the Year." The award was presented during a gala banquet Mon., June 18, at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York.
The awards have been called "the business world’s own Oscars" by the New York Post, and for the first time featured three levels: Bronze, Silver, and Gold. Pioneer Services received the only gold in the division featuring companies with up to 2,500 employees—Pioneer Services has nearly 300 team members worldwide, making it one of the smaller organizations in the category. Winners in the other levels and categories included Time Warner, Southwest Airlines, MetLife, and Ford Motor Company.
"Being recognized along with so many other great companies tells us that we're doing the right things the right way," said Pioneer Services Chief Marketing Officer Karen Von Der Bruegge. "And that is really is a credit to all of our team members. They are the ones who come up with volunteer opportunities, hold huge food drives, adopt families during the holidays—it's all because they truly believe in giving back to our communities. In the end, the true reward is the knowledge that we have made a positive difference in the lives of those who needed a hand up."
Pioneer Services' CSR program was also recognized with a 2006 Stevie and CEO Tom Holcom was named "Executive of the Year–Financial Services" from the American Business Awards in 2009. In addition, the company received a PR News CSR "Workplace Innovation" award in 2010 for its VTO program, and has received many other awards for its culture, people, and financial education program and materials.
