New website wins Interactive Media Award

Site Named “Best in Class” for Military Websites

The website went through a redesign late last year that added many upgrades and features. All of the changes were aimed at helping military families easily find the information they need and want, and do so in a safe and secure way.

These changes were recognized when the Interactive Media Council, Inc. (IMC), a nonprofit organization of leading web-related professionals, named the site as “Best in Class” among military websites in the 2013 “Interactive Media Award” competition.

The new site now includes a comprehensive financial education learning center with both video and audio podcasts, a blog, special self-help guides and much more. For safety it features Secure Socket Layer (SSL) encryption throughout the site, is Norton Secured, and also certified by TRUSTe, the most comprehensive online privacy certification available.

“The intent was to create a site for military families that was easy to use and informative, providing them with the tools and resources they need to not only make informed financial decisions, but to improve their overall quality of life,” said Director of Marketing Randy Freese. “All told, our teams spent countless hours writing, designing, and launching the new site, and it’s terrific to see their work rewarded and recognized.”

The award program is designed to elevate the standards of excellence on the Internet. Judges can give up to 100 points in each of the following categories: design; content; feature functionality; usability; and standards’ compliance and browser capabilities. The new received a total of 483 points out of a possible 500, which included 98 for design, 99 for functionality, and a perfect 100 for content.
