A recent survey from the National Foundation for Credit Counseling and Pioneer Services, a division of MidCountry Bank, showed that three out of four service members have financial worries—and those concerns could have an impact on holiday spending. To help service members and military families spend smart and keep within their budgets this year, Pioneer Services created HolidaySpendingPlanner.org.
As the holiday season gets started, HolidaySpendingPlanner.org can be a great resource,” said retired U.S. Air Force Chief Master Sergeant Allen Usry, National Military Relations Manager for Pioneer Services. “This free site helps users establish a budget, manage wish lists, and track spending throughout the season so you can compare it to your budget.”
Usry is also the author of a blog and article entitled “Make the Most out of Your Holiday Dollars” that provides some other tips and strategies to save money this holiday season.
“It’s important to know your limit before you start to shop,” Usry added. “It’s better if you can wait for a sale and use cash. Of course, also be sure to always ask for a military discount. The last thing you want is for your holiday cheer to turn into a holiday debt hangover.”
