About the Fort Drum - watertown Area
Fort Drum has served as a military training site since 1908 and now serves as a U.S. Army training facility that lies between the beautiful Adirondack Mountains and the Great Lakes. Fort Drum has more than 12,000 residents and is home to the 10th Mountain Division, a light infantry unit and subordinate of the XVII Airborne Corps, specially trained to combat in rugged terrain or harsh weather conditions.
Fort Drum is located near Evans Mills, a village with a rich history founded in the early 1800s in Jefferson County, NY. Not far from Fort Drum are the towns of Watertown, Le Ray, and Oswego—all bustling with recreational and cultural fun and festivals year round.
