To help service members and military families spend smart and keep within their budgets this year, we are once again promoting HolidaySpendingPlanner.org. This free website offers customizable budgets and wish lists, a holiday spending calculator, helpful shopping links and other helpful tips for holiday spending.

We showed our appreciation and thanks to service members and their families by giving away commissary food and retail gift cards in the months of November and December. The $20 and $25 gift cards are intended to help military families in need purchase a turkey, or other items, for the holidays.

To help honor service members and their families on Veteran's Day, Pioneer Services, the Responsible Alternative, made a donation to the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), the nation’s largest advocacy organization for veterans that works to ensure those who have served are taken care of when they return home.

We have a long history of taking care of both our customers and our team members. This was once again affirmed when we were named a "Great Place to Work in Southern Nevada" by the Southern Nevada Human Resources Association, an affiliate of the Society for Human Resources Management.

Park University’s "Warrior Center," which opened Oct. 7, 2011, got its start when Pioneer Services CEO Tom Holcom and Crosby Kemper of UMB Bank came up with the idea of a special place at the university where wounded service members could receive instruction tailored to their unique backgrounds.

For the second time in three years we were named a "Great Place to Work in Collections" by insideARM.com (Accounts Receivable Management), a trade organization. The award is based on a two-part survey process and takes into account benefits offered, workplace practices and policies, and company culture, as well as employee satisfaction.

The "Call Center Awards" recognize and promote the most innovative call center solutions and individuals. Pioneer Services was one of the companies so honored, being named the first winner in the "Best Contact Center Learning, Development & Recognition Program" category, which was new for 2011.

We received four Bronze Quill Awards from the Kansas City chapter of the International Association of Business Communicators (KC-IABC)—one for each entry we submitted! They included ones for internal publication and design, as well as for our PEP Talk podcast series.

To celebrate National Military Appreciation Month, we launched "Operation Building Freedom," a Facebook Cause campaign to benefit Homes for Our Troops, a nationally recognized non-profit that constructs specially adapted homes for severely injured service members.
