KANSAS CITY, Mo.
Pioneer Services is pleased to celebrate its 80th year of service in 2012. Founded in 1932, today Pioneer Services is one of the country's leading financial services providers to members of the U.S. Armed Forces and their families. The company provides services through offices in numerous military markets around the U.S., as well as online, and has helped nearly 1.4 million military families with their financial needs.
"This 80th Anniversary milestone speaks to the service, dedication and commitment of all Pioneer Services' team members both today, and when this organization was first founded," said Tom Holcom, CEO of Pioneer Services. "Staying focused on our values, offering best-in-class customer service, and always doing what's best for the customer has helped this company achieve continued success over time, and allowed us to continually give back to the communities we serve."
Originally started as a family auto dealership in Kansas City, MO, the company has served niche markets for decades, and started exclusively serving the military community in 1986. The military lending team became a division of MidCountry Bank in 2007, and today helps military families with financial education, traditional loans, Certificates of Deposit, and savings accounts.
Pioneer Services has developed and maintains a comprehensive financial education program that includes free consultations, informative books and publications, and web-based learning centers for customers. This effort has been recognized by the American Bankers Association, the Association for Financial Counseling and Planning Education, the Institute for Financial Literacy, and numerous others over the last decade.
The company is committed to improving the quality of life for military families by giving back to the communities it serves through financial, philanthropic, and volunteer support. These efforts have been recognized on numerous occasions, including being honored as having the "Best Corporate Social Responsibility Program" by the American Business Awards. Today, the company gives all of its team members 16 hours of paid volunteer time off annually to assist charities in their communities.
The strong team member culture has also made Pioneer Services an employer of choice, being named a "Best Company to Work for in America" by the Society of Human Resources Management and its affiliates on several occasions, a "Champion of Business" by The Kansas City Business Journal, and a recipient of the Department of Defense "Freedom Award" for its support of team members in the National Guard and reserves, among others.
