Community & Industry Awards

“Best Social Media”
The American Business Awards recognized Pioneer Services’ social media campaign with a “Stevie” as one of the best in the nation in 2014 thanks to the company’s increase in followers and mentions.

“Best Website – Banking and Financial Services”
The American Business Awards named as the best banking and financial services website in 2013 and 2014, giving it the gold Stevie award. The ease of use and wealth of information available, along with its design, were among the factors cited.

“Best in Class” Website
The Interactive Media Council, Inc. (IMC), a nonprofit organization of leading web-related professionals, named as “Best in Class” among military websites in the 2013 “Interactive Media Award” competition. The award program is designed to elevate the standards of excellence on the Internet.

Better Business Bureau Consumer Protection Awards

  • Jacksonville, N.C.: The former office serving Camp Lejeune, NC, received the 2012 Torch Award for Marketplace Ethics from the BBB of Eastern North Carolina. Toby Barfield, president and CEO of BBB serving Eastern N.C., said during the presentation that “Pioneer is a shining example of what the BBB expects from all its Accredited Businesses. If only every business in America operated this way!”
  • Junction City, Kan.: The office that used to serve Fort Riley received a BBB Integrity Award. Jim Hegarty, president and chief executive officer, of the BBB serving Nebraska, South Dakota, Kansas Plains and southwest Iowa, said that “the BBB Integrity Award Winners have shown that ethics and integrity are core values of their organization. They join an elite group of organizations…They serve as role models for the businesses community, and the Better Business Bureau Foundation is pleased to honor them with this prestigious award.”
  • Colorado Springs, Co.: This past office won unprecedented back-to-back Excellence in Customer Service awards in 2007 and 2008, plus another in 2013! One of the most complex local BBB awards, the process included an on-site visit and interviews with team members.
  • Evans Mills, N.Y.: The office serving Fort Drum won a 2007 Torch Award for Marketplace Ethics from the Upstate New York BBB. The president of the BBB chapter said, “We know the difference between right and wrong when it comes to business ethics, and I am here to tell you this company gets it right!”

Champions of Business
The Kansas City Business Journal named Pioneer Services a “Champion of Business” in both 2010 and 2011. Winners were selected based on sustained financial performance, commitment to bettering the community and innovation in products, services and culture.

Chief Financial Officer of the Year
The “CFO of the Year” award is given by the Kansas City Business Journal to a financial professional for outstanding performance in his or her role as a corporate financial steward. Pioneer Services CFO Laura Stack was named winner of the award in 2010.

Leading the Community

  • Chief Administrative Officer Jodi Vickery was chosen as one of Kansas City’s “Forty under 40” by Ingram’s business magazine in 2014, and a “Rising Star” for 2013 by KC Business magazine.
  • Chief Financial Officer Laura Stack was chosen as one of Kansas City’s “Influential Women in Business” in 2013 by KC Business magazine, and as “CFO of the Year” by the Kansas City Business Journal.


Extraordinary Employer Support Award
In 2012, Pioneer Services was one of the first companies in the country, and one of only two companies in Missouri, to receive this honor for its commitment to employees called to active duty, or currently serving in the U.S. military.

Above and Beyond Award
In recognition of our continued commitment to employees called to active duty or currently serving in the U.S. military, Pioneer Services received this award in 2012 from the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve, a function within the Department of Defense. This exclusive award is given to employers who exceed expectations and requirements for support of those called to military duty.

Bronze Quill Award
Pioneer Services “Save the Flame” campaign, created to keep the National WWI Museum’s eternal flame from being extinguished, was recognized by the Kansas City chapter of the International Association of Business Communicators (KC-IABC) and was one of three finalists for “Best in Show” in 2009.

"Freedom Award" – Office of the Secretary of Defense
Pioneer Services was one of 15 companies honored in 2005 with a Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom Award for its support of team members serving in the National Guard and Reserve.

Top “Military Friendly Employer”
Pioneer Services was named a top “Military Friendly Employer” by G.I. Jobs magazine in 2005. Although the magazine’s “Top 25” focuses primarily on Fortune 500 companies, the magazine listed four companies, including Pioneer Services, outside of the corporate giants that do an outstanding job of actively pursuing veterans.


Stevie Awards for “Best Corporate Social Responsibility Program”
Called “the business world’s own Oscars” by The New York Post, the American Business Awards—known as the “Stevies”—are one of the most sought-after awards in the nation. Pioneer Services was recognized in 2006, 2012, 2014, and 2015 for our focus on the financial health of our military customers and giving back to the communities we serve.

PR Daily CSR Awards for “Best CSR Leader/Company”
Pioneer Services has dedicated itself to the communities it serves ever since it began in 1932. This commitment has been recognized by PR Daily twice in its Corporate Social Responsibility Awards, which named Pioneer Services as “Best CSR Leader/Company.” in 2013 and 2014. In addition, the company’s paid volunteer time-off (VTO) program received an honorable mention in the “Best Employee Volunteer Program” category.

PR News CSR Award for “Workplace Innovation”

Giving back to the communities we serve is part of our culture, including offering team members a combined 4,900 hours of paid VTO each year. These efforts were recognized with a 2010 PR News Corporate Social Responsibility Award for “Workplace Innovation.” One of the most prestigious awards in all of business, our success was awarded over Deloitte, Butterball, and Pepsi Co.


APEX Awards for Publication Excellence
The “APEX Awards for Publication Excellence” are an annual competition for writers, editors, publications staff, and business and nonprofit communicators that recognizes some of the best communication materials in the country. Pioneer Services’ “Blog for Military Families” was selected as a winner in 2014 and 2015, and the company received a 2015 Award of Excellence in the Education and Training Category for “Best Program, Campaign, or Plan.” In 2011, Pioneer Services’ article series was one of just 100 of 3,300 entries given a Grand Award for the quality of its content.

“Best Public Service" – Communications Program
We received a silver 2015 “Stevie” for “Best Public Service/Communications” program for our financial education efforts. This included our blog; guides; credit repair kit; Military Financial Literacy Survey in partnership with the National Foundation for Credit Counseling; on-line budgeting tool; and the promotion of a 10-point Military Financial Bill of Rights.

Bronze Quill Award
In 2011, KC-IABC recognized Pioneer Services with a Bronze Quill Award for the high quality and uniqueness of our Financial PEP Talk podcast series. Other winners included Hallmark, JP Morgan, Cerner and Sprint.

AFCPE Award for “Outstanding Consumer Financial Information”
The Association for Financial Counseling and Planning Education (AFCPE) recognized Pioneer Services financial education program in 2009 as one of the best in the nation, awarding it the winner of the “Outstanding Consumer Financial Information” category. The AFCPE awards honor those organizations that provide superior financial education materials that are innovative and timely and provide a depth and breadth of information.

Institute for Financial Literacy “EIFLE Award”
In 2009, the Institute for Financial Literacy honored Pioneer Services’ book, the Military Spouse Finance Guide: Financial Advice for the Homefront, with the Excellence in Financial Literacy Education (EIFLE) award. The book was recognized for its wide range of helpful and unique financial information.

ABA Award for Financial Education
The American Bankers Association (ABA) has recognized Pioneer Services twice: in 2008 for its financial education materials and in 2009 for its book, the Military Spouse Finance Guide: Financial Advice for the Homefront.


Call Center Awards
Given by the International Quality & Productivity Center (IQPC), the Call Center Awards recognize and promote the most innovative call center solutions and individuals. Pioneer Services was the recipient of a pair of Call Center Awards: in 2012 for the "Greatest Job Creating a Culture that Inspires World-Class Excellence,” and in 2011 for having the “Best Contact Center Learning, Development & Recognition Program.”

Great Place to Work in Las Vegas
In 2011, Pioneer Services was named a “Great Place to Work in Southern Nevada” by the Southern Nevada Human Resources Association, an affiliate of the Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM). Pioneer Services was chosen due to its culture, benefits and commitment to its team members' growth and success.

"Best Company to Work For in Kansas City"—Ingram’s magazine
Pioneer Services was named to this business magazine’s 2009 list for its culture of empowerment, open and honest communication and service to the community.

Top 25 “Best Places To Work in America”
Pioneer Services was recognized in 2004 and 2006 as one of the top 25 “Best Medium-Sized Companies to Work for in America.” Based on team member surveys, the awards highlight companies that provide superior benefits, a positive workplace culture and team member support.
